Harpenden Highland Gathering 2006The 2006 Harpenden Highland Gathering was held on Sunday 16th July in Rothamsted Park, Harpenden. It was a glorious, hot and sunny day, which helped to swell the numbers to a record breaking 10,000 people. The interims estimate of money raised for local charities is £10,000. Highland Games [Top] Music for the Month of MayPhotographs from the Event
Audience in the Great Drawing Room, Rothamsted Manor This hugely enjoyable concert, given to a capacity audience in the Great Drawing Room, Rothamsted Manor, opened with the Divertimento No. 4 for Wind Trio performed by the Pegasus Wind Trio. The Goldmark String Quartet followed with a performance of the String Quartet in G, Op. 33 by Haydn. Alice Gledhill of Pegasus then joined the Goldmark Quartet for two movements from the Mozart Clarinet Quintet, K. 581.

Pegasus Wind Trio Charity Concert in the Great Drawing Room, Rothamsted Manor, Harpenden, 7:30pm, 13th May 2006. Harpenden Lions are pleased to present a Charity Concert in aid of Keech Cottage Children's Hospice and Grove House in the beautiful Great Drawing Room of Rothamsted Manor, Harpenden. The concert will be given by the talented young musicians of the Pegasus Wind Trio and the Goldmark String Quartet. The delightful programme includes Mozart's Divertimento No.4 for Wind Trio and the Clarinet Quintet plus Haydn's String Quartet in G, Op.33 No.5. The second half will consist of a variety of works on a lighter note by George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Ennio Morricone and others. It promises to be a superb evening with something for everyone. BeneficiariesKeech Cottage Children's Hospice supports families from across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire who are caring for a child or young person diagnosed with a life-limiting condition. Grove House supports and cares for patients, families and friends affected by cancer or a life-threatening illness in St Albans, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding areas. Patients with life-threatening illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease or chronic heart disease and cancer are supported. Cancer patients are helped from the time of diagnosis through to the end-stage of illness.
