Battle of the Bands

The Battle of the Bands charity event was held on Friday 8 May 2015 in St George’s School Hall in Harpenden. Celebrity judges will include two of the Puppini Sisters who went to school in Harpenden.  See the separate link for full information about these wonderful performances


Charity Golf Day

Harpenden Lions Club hold annual Charity Golf Days, the most recent of which was at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club in Harpenden on Friday 19th May. Last year we raised £1,773.00 for Harpenden Spotlight on Africa with 14 teams.

The event included lunch, a round on Aldwickbury Park Golf course followed by a three course dinner and prizes. All for only £260 for a team of four.

Easter Eggs

In the weeks before Easter, Harpenden Lions Club provides local pubs and clubs with giant Easter eggs which are raffled for charitable causes.

Tin Shaking


Every Christmas Lions are seen in Harpenden High Street collecting money for worthwhile causes. The photograph  shows some very cold Lions collecting in a recent event!.

Many beneficiaries have benefited from the tin shake over the last 30 years or so. In 2014 over £1000 was raised for Harpenden Riding for the Disabled.

    Recent club fundraising activity

  • Southdown Methodist Pre School

    Harpenden Lions Club gave a grant of £250 to Southdown Methodist Pre School to provide an extra member of staff to support a child with special needs not only in his academic learning but particularly his social understanding.
  • Santa’s sleigh

    Harpenden Lions Club helped the Roundtable Santa’s sleigh get round Batford on the the Monday before Christmas helping to raise nearly £500 for the Roundtable charities.
  • Lions collect for SOSA

    Harpenden Lions Club turned out in force to collect in Harpenden for the Special Olympics St Albans. The warm weather was match by the generosity of Harpenden’s residents giving over £1,000 to this well deserving cause.
  • Highland Gathering Charities chosen

    We have chosen the main charities to support with funds raised from the highland gathering 2016.  Diabetes Advice and Support Hertfordshire (DASH) and PSP Association. Diabetes Advice and Support Hertfordshire (DASH) is a voluntary group supporting families affected by Type 1 diabetes in Hertfordshire. We are a peer support group, run by local people for local ...
  • 7 Pipe Bands

    We have had news that this year there will be a record 7 pipe bands competing at the 2016 highland gathering. One is coming all the way from Truro.
