Harpenden Lions Club has played a vital role in ensuring the safety of residents in Harpenden and surrounding areas by working collaboratively with local businesses, the Town Council, and the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
One of the club's significant initiatives has been to ensure that all Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in the region are registered on the BHF database. This crucial step makes these life-saving devices accessible to the East of England Ambulance Service, allowing for rapid response times in emergency situations.
During the recent Harpenden Highland Gathering, the club collaborated with the Community First Responders to provide complimentary training to members of the public. This initiative aimed to empower individuals who may need to use an AED, ensuring they feel prepared and confident they are able to help. You can find the location of the AEDs at the defibrillator map.
The Harpenden Lions Club's dedication to community safety has made a significant impact on the lives of residents in the area. By ensuring that AEDs are readily available and accessible, the club has helped to increase the chances of survival for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest.
