Harpenden Lions and the Willow Foundation

Harpenden Lions were pleased to host Harry Folgate from the Willow Foundation at a recent meeting and to give him a cheque for £2000 to support this worthwhile charity. The money was raised from their recent Easter Egg raffle in Harpenden pubs.

Harry explained that the charity was set up by Bob Wilson – previously the Arsenal goalkeeper - and his wife Megs in response to the loss of their daughter Anne who died at the age of 31 from cancer. The charity supports young people aged between 16 and 40 who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses by organising Special Treats, fun-packed days out or quiet breaks to create life-affirming experiences and to bring family and friends together to create special memories. More details can be found at www.willowfoundation.org.uk or by clicking the link on the home page to “Our charities”.

Thank you to all the pubs that were kind enough to take an egg and promote this good cause and, of course, to those who so generously donated.
