Harpenden Lions donate environmental books to Beech Hyde Primary School & Nursery
Harpenden Lions were delighted to support Beech Hyde Primary School & Nursery as their Eco‑Warriors led a special assembly for World Oceans Day. The pupils shared thoughtful, powerful messages about how we can all play a part in protecting our planet, from reducing waste to caring for our oceans and wildlife.

To help inspire ongoing learning, Harpenden Lions donated a collection of beautifully illustrated children’s books for every class. These titles explore themes such as ocean conservation, recycling, climate change, and deforestation, giving pupils engaging, age‑appropriate ways to understand the environmental challenges facing our world.
During the assembly, the children discussed practical steps they can take in their everyday lives to help the environment. Their enthusiasm and sense of responsibility were clear to see, and the new books will now become a permanent part of the school library, supporting future learning for years to come.
Beech Hyde shared their thanks, saying how much the pupils enjoyed the session and how valuable the new resources will be. We’re proud to play a small part in encouraging the next generation of environmental champions.
At Harpenden Lions, we believe that supporting local schools and empowering young people is one of the most meaningful ways we can serve our community. We look forward to continuing our work with Beech Hyde and other local schools on projects that inspire curiosity, compassion, and positive action.
